Cardiologist James O’Keefe talks about the risks that extreme endurance exercises can bring to your health.

Races performed by older athletes are very admirable, but many of them are hours long and take a severe toll on the heart muscle which cause cause arrhythmias, strokes or even death.

This news should NOT deter you from cardio workouts, as it is very important to do heart strengthening exercises. However, the heart- like any other muscle, can get strained or injured from overuse.

It is important to always remain active and push yourself, but also to keep in mind that exercise in moderation is extremely important to maintaining that healthy balance.
